JASPER, Ind. – January 4, 2008 – The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and
Design has distinguished Kimball Office with a Good Design® Award for its
Scenario™ table line. The Good Design program honors products, designers,
and industry leaders for excellent, competitive and enduring design.
An internal team of Kimball Office designers and engineers led by Senior Product Designer
Jay Henriott created Scenario, which will be placed into the Museum's Permanent Design Collection.
"We're very proud to be highlighted for design leadership by such a prestigious organization,"
said Jeff Fenwick, Vice President of Marketing, Kimball Office. "This award recognizes both the
innovation that defines our products and the integrated approach we take in designing them."
The Chicago Athenaeum received hundreds of submissions, including the new 787 Boeing airplane,
from more than 26 countries. The jury selected Scenario for design distinction because of its
innovation, form, materials, construction, concept, function, and utility.
In designing Scenario, Kimball Office has achieved a multi-purpose table that brings more
functionality, flexibility and productivity to today’s constantly changing work environments.
Intuitive mechanisms make Scenario easy to set up, move around, break down, and put away.
An innovative tool-free ganging hitch provides flush table-to-table fit and straight-line
storage arrangements. Modular electrical packages offer seamless technology integration,
while the ability to nest and store with cabling and modesty panels intact contributes
additional utility and convenience. A versatile range of shapes, sizes, base options,
and accessories allows Scenario to handle any setup, work area, task, or gathering.
Good Design is one of the oldest and most important design competitions in the world,
founded in 1950 by Edgar J. Kaufman, Jr., with some of America's most influential designers,
including Charles and Ray Eames, and Eero Saarinen.
